The day as it runs now

A normal Tuesday at the desk

Five moments from one ordinary day at reception. None of them is unusual, but all of them arrive on the same desk.

08:10

Two voicemails from last night. One cancellation for this morning, one patient asking to move an appointment. Nobody has actioned either yet, and the first patient is already at the door.

09:45

A no-show. Nobody rang ahead. The chair sits empty for forty minutes, so the dentist asks whether anyone can come in earlier.

11:40

A cancellation for the 12:00 slot. Twenty minutes to find someone. Meanwhile, the waiting list is open in one window, the diary in another, the phone in one hand.

14:30

Tomorrow's reminder calls. Then thirty numbers to work through between patients checking in and out.

17:15

The list of people who did not answer earlier. So you try again, or leave it and hope they show up.

None of this is in anyone's job description. It lands on the desk every day, on top of the patients who are actually standing there, and that is why front desk burnout happens.

Common questions

01

Does this replace any of my current tasks?

Yes, the repetitive ones. Reminder and confirmation calls, chasing unconfirmed patients and ringing round to fill a cancellation run automatically. The work that needs judgement stays with you: the patient at the counter, the conversation that needs reassurance, and the cases TurnUp World hands back because a person has to decide.
02

Will TurnUp World replace reception staff?

No. It removes the calling, not the person. Every practice still needs someone who knows the patients, reads the diary and handles the conversations that need care. What changes is that the desk no longer spends its day on reminder calls and call lists, so there is more time for that work.
03

Will patients find the automated messages confusing?

Messages are short, sent in the patient's own language and carry your practice name, with one tap to confirm, cancel or ask to move. Low-risk patients get a single reminder, so nobody is flooded with messages. A patient who wants to speak to someone can always reach reception directly.
04

What do I do when our call agent escalates a call?

The call lands on your To-dos list with a short summary of what the patient asked for. You pick it up when you have a moment, call the patient back or adjust the diary, and log the outcome with one click. TurnUp World logs every interaction, so you can always see what was said.
05

Does this mean more training?

Very little. You keep booking in the practice management system you already use, and TurnUp World works from that same diary. Most of what changes is what you no longer have to do. The one new screen is the To-dos list, which shows only the items that need someone at the desk.
06

Does it work with our practice management system?

Yes. TurnUp World connects to Dentally, DentAdmin, Exquise, Progenda and System for Dentists and reads bookings, cancellations and changes in real time. Where the PMS supports it, outcomes are written straight back. Nothing moves to a new diary and nobody types anything twice, so the desk keeps one reliable view of the day.
